Good Management Practices

Good Management Practices

The 2009 revision of the U.S. peanut industry’s Good Management Practices (GMP’s) demonstrates the industry’s commitment to providing safe, wholesome and nutritious peanuts and peanut products to the worldwide consumer. GMPs provide guidance to all segments of the peanut industry - from farm to factory. In the increasingly competitive global environment, the U.S. peanut industry is dedicated to providing the highest possible quality products to domestic and international consumers.

The primary focus of the GMPs is to provide communication, training and instruction to continually improve the quality of the U.S. peanut industry’s services and products. These goals can only be accomplished if all segments of the industry are committed to applying and using the appropriate elements contained herein.

These GMP’s were written using a HACCP format so that they could easily be adapted to all systems currently in use by the U.S. industry. Application of these practices by all segments of the peanut industry enhances both the quality and value of our industry’s products. These practices can be incorporated in individual farm operations, buying points, shelling plants, warehouses, transport providers and product manufacturers - improving the overall effectiveness of the production and processing system.
